Designed in Malmö (Sweden) and developed in a pilot plant that operates in Silverstone Park (United Kingdom). Uniti One was already able to meet it in 2017. When its pre-order phase was opened through Media Markt. Now, it is shown in its final design with essential changes.

The most significant is the inclusion of the conventional steering wheel to the detriment of the two joysticks that made their function in the anticipated model version a couple of years ago.

Also, the manufacturer spoke at the time of a car weighing only 450 kg empty, but the final specifications raise the result of the scale to 600 kg. In any case, it is an ultra-light model designed to meet the demand for urban mobility by offering up to 300 km of autonomy without emitting polluting gases.

The result of this objective, the Uniti One, with only two doors, has very rounded shapes and very contained dimensions: 3.22 x 1.70 x 1.50 (length, width, and height, respectively), and a battle of 2.17 meters.

To put it in context. In terms of size, it is located above the Renault Twizy (2.34 meters in length) or the SEAT Minimó concept (2.5 m). But well below the urban segment where the Ford Ka + ( 3.93 m), to cite an example.

As for the interior, this small zero-emission has an unusual seating arrangement. As it has a central driving position and two other seats located at the rear. Thus being able to accommodate up to three occupants. The boot capacity is 155 liters, although it can be increased to 760 liters with the rear seats folded.

The Uniti One is equipped with a lithium-ion battery whose autonomy varies depending on the version chosen. The standard, with a capacity of 12 kWh which translates into 150 km of independence; or the free, 24 kWh, and 300 km range. The new price of this last battery is 2,800 euros.

The higher capacity battery can be recharged from 20% to 80% in 17 minutes using a DC charger and fast charge (50 kW). While the 12 kWh battery needs only nine minutes in those same conditions.

In terms of performance. The Uniti One has an electric motor located on the rear axle that grants 67 HP of power and 85 Nm of torque and allows you to complete the 0-100 km / h in 9.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 120 km / h, and its average energy consumption is 8 kWh / 100 km, although it varies depending on the driving mode chosen: City or Boost.

The interior of the Uniti One 2020 is offered in three possible colors: scandium, graphite or titanium. In the cabin, we find a dashboard with three buttons that serve to engage the forward, backward, or neutral.

In addition to two screens on both sides of the steering wheel that use Google's Android Automotive software for the infotainment system.

Also, the car has an electrochromic sunroof that can be adjusted from transparent to totally opaque, for example, to keep the cabin temperature lower. The starting system dispenses with a physical key since the ignition of the vehicle is carried out from the smartphone.

It should be remembered that 24 firms have collaborated in the development of Uniti. Of these, names such as Siemens, NVidia, Tele2, Kuka Robotics, and Haldex stand out, in addition to the electric E.ON, which offers its customers a discount on the invoice for the consumption of Uniti for five years, while guaranteeing the solar origin of that energy.

Now, once the reception of orders is open, it's time to see what response the Uniti One receives from the market. According to Autocar, more than 3,000 requests were made during the reservation period without even knowing the final model, and after paying 150 euros.

The British publication ensures that Uniti plans now go through the development of a new four-seater model (2 + 2), which will share a large number of elements with the Uniti One.

In any case, we will have to keep a close eye on the progress of the Swedish company. At a time when the proliferation of electric car start-ups does not stop. Despite the high costs involved in the development of an electric car.
